Notice: Invoice Options

CGIO Secondary water will be shutting down October 13th, please close your valves as we drain the system on October 14th. Remember to open the valves 2/3 of the way after blowing out your personal sprinkler system. For more information on winterizing your sprinkler system visit the website.

An invoice and letter dated May 5, 2023 was sent to customers outlining the changes to CGIO's operations. Several customers reached out with suggestions on how to lower operational costs. We heard your feedback and are providing 3 options for future invoice needs, allowing customers to choose which option they would like to use moving forward.  The option the customer chooses will be used for all future years of invoicing:

Option 1:

Pay the invoice as outlined in the letter and invoice dated May 5, 2023.  Please go to the website and update your contact information (click here), provide your water meter reading (taken after October 15th), and in the comments section indicate that you would like to continue with your invoicing as outlined in the letter.

This information needs to be provided by October 20, 2023. Invoices are to be paid prior to November 30, 2023 as indicated in the original invoice. Invoices for 2024 will be sent out in February and will be due March 31, 2024. The 2024 Invoices will include any overages in water use as outlined in the initial invoice.

Option 2:

After more than 15 years of negotiations with CHWA and with recent changes to the Water Master, CGIO now has permission to reduce water share to property acreage ratios. This will allow CGIO to allocate water shares to property acreage at a 2/3:1 ratio and allows CGIO to reduce the amount of water allocated to each property. This would mean that the quantity of water allocated for the 2023 irrigation season as indicated in the May 5, 2023 invoices could be reduced by 1/3. For example, if you were allocated 300,000 gallons based on your property acreage, you now would be allocated and invoiced for 200,000 gallons. This change in the base rates would also come with a change in overage fees and user responsibilities.

After paying for the lump sum of  allotted water at the 2/3:1 ration, customers will pay the following tiers with this option (water usage:property acreage):

  • Usage up to 2/3:1 of the allocated water: $0.90/1000 gallons
  • Usage between 2/3:1 and 1:1 of the allocated water: $1.57/1000 gallons to match the NLC Tier 1 city water rates
  • Usage over the 1:1 allocation and up to 1-1/2:1 of the allocated water: $1.83/1000 gallons
  • Anything over the 1:1/2:1 allocated water: $2.95/1000 gallons

Example 1: lot allocation for 1:1 ratio is 300,000 gallons.  For option 2 the customer can use 200,000 at tier 1 costs.  Total costs for base rates if they use up to 200,000 gallons is  200 * $0.90 = $180 plus monthly water fees.

Example 2: The user in example 1 uses 250,000 gallons.  Their costs would be 200 * $0.90 + 50 * 1.57 = $258.50 plus monthly water fees.

Example 3:  The user in example 1 uses 300,000 gallons.  Their costs would be 200 * $0.90 + 100 * $1.57 = $337.00 plus monthly water fees.  If the user chose to use option 1, they could use all 300,000 gallons at $0.785/1000, and then pay $1.00/1000 gallons for any water used over the allocated amount of 300,000.  Using 300,000 gallons under Option 1 would cost $235.50 plus monthly water fees and would be the most cost effective option.

Example 4: The user in example 1 uses 350,000 gallons.  Their costs would be 200 * $0.90 + 100 * $1.57 +50 * $1.83 = $428.50 plus monthly water fees.

Option 2 will also require the customer to assume the costs for parts and labor for CGIO to remove/replace water meters or valves if they break.

If you are interested in participating in Option 2, please go to the website and update your contact information (click here), provide your water meter reading (taken after October 15th ), and in the comments section indicate that you would like to choose Option 2 for invoicing. This information needs to be provided on the website by October 20th, 2023. If choosing Option 2, new invoices for the 2023 season (including any overages) will be sent out by November 30th, 2023. New invoices are to be paid in full by December 15, 2023. Invoices for 2024 secondary water will be sent out by February and will be due March 31, 2024.

Option 3:

With this option the customer will follow the NLC Tiered water schedule indicated in the residential calculator (see image of NLC calculator below).  Customers will pay the following tiers with this option (water usage : property acreage):

  • Usage up to ½:1 of allocated water:  $1.57/1000 gallons to match NLC Tier 1 water rates.
  • Usage between ½:1 and 2/3:1 of allocated water: $1.70/1000 gallons to match NLC Tier 2 water rates.
  • Usage between 2/3:1 and 1:1 of allocated water: $1.83/1000 gallons to match NLC Tier 3 water rates.
  • Usage between 1:1and 1-1/4:1 of allocated water: $2.95/1000 gallons to match NLC Tier 4 water rates.
  • Usage between 1-1/4:1and 1-1/2:1 of allocated water: $5.25/1000 gallons to match NLC Tier 5 water rates.
  • Usage between 1-1/2:1 and 1-3/4:1 of allocated water: $6.50/1000 gallons to match NLC Tier 6 water rates.
  • Anything over a 1-3/4:1 ratio will be invoiced at the Tier 7 rate ($7.75/1000 gallons).

This change in rates would also come with a change to user responsibilities. Customers choosing Option 3 will also require the customer to assume the costs for parts and labor for CGIO to remove/replace water meters or valves if they break.

If you are interested in participating in Option 3, please go to the website and update your contact information (click here), provide your water meter reading (taken after October 15th ), and in the comments section indicate that you would like to choose Option 3 for invoicing. This information needs to be provided on the website by October 20th, 2023. If choosing Option 3, new invoices for the 2023 season (including any overages) will be sent out by November 30th, 2023. New invoices are to be paid in full by December 15, 2023. Invoices for 2024 secondary water will be sent out and due by December 15, 2024.

For Options 1, 2 and 3, the same monthly user fees apply ($7.11/mo) and all invoices will be electronically sent to the email address provided on the contact form. If you do not receive an email within 1-2 business days of the invoicing dates noted above, it is the customer's responsibility to email CGIO for a new invoice. Paper invoices can be provided at a fee of $4 per invoice sent. CGIO can also read the meters for a fee of $10/meter reading. If the meter reading the customer provides is incorrect, CGIO will request additional information.

Customers who do not register on the website with their contact information, meter reading and intent to enroll in Option 1, Option 2 or Option 3 as outlined above, will remain enrolled in Option 1 moving forward.

Please reach out through email with any questions. Call the emergency number (435-994-8761) to report any leaks in the system.

Thanks,

CGIO Management
